NOBODY DIED TODAY

А documentary performance created in collaboration with Austria’s Theater im Bahnhof, aiming to tell Western European audiences about Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The play is based on the stories, reflections, and experiences of Ukrainian soldiers, volunteers, and the creators themselves regarding internal transformations, reevaluation of values, and perceptions of time, space, and belonging. A group of artists offers a critical response to pacifism, distancing, and "war fatigue" often encountered in Western European society. "- We woke up at 5:00 a.m. to the sounds of explosions…"That’s how the stories of February 24 begin for most Ukrainians. Our lives changed forever at that moment. We thought we were leaving for two weeks. Nine months have passed. We don't know how much more time it will take, who among us will return home, who will survive, and what the cost of our right to freedom will be.We never planned to be refugees, volunteers, soldiers, or paramedics. We were artists, organizing concerts and rallies, drinking coffee in cozy cafés in cities we love and long to return to.We didn’t choose this war, but we must win it.We created this theatrical performance to share our experiences and thoughts. To tell you stories — our own and those of our friends, who are risking their lives right now to protect what we love. We believe that through courageous and honest dialogue, we create a space for new experiences to emerge and broaden our mutual understanding of war and security.
The performance is based on interviews with Ukrainian volunteers, military personnel, cultural figures, and the personal stories of the actors. Live music accompanies the performance.
