"Prostitute" — the first puppet performance by Nafta Theatre. Directed by Artem Vusyk, based on the play by Ihor Bilyts. This is the story of Sasha, a sex worker from a mining town in eastern Ukraine. The events take place in 2016, during wartime.
Every night, she serves local colonels and officers. In her free time, Sasha reflects on why her life turned out this way and what she can do about it. Her clients and friends are always expecting something from her — sex, money, a place to sleep, comfort, or even just cigarettes. And she gives... because how can she say no?
You will witness her intense inner struggle. Sasha dreams of breaking free, opening her own café, paying off her debts, and finally setting personal boundaries.

It’s hard for an ordinary person, especially a woman, to survive in this patriarchal world. But maybe the problem lies within the person? Maybe it’s time to take off the rose-colored glasses and take responsibility for your own life? These are the questions Sasha, the main character, is trying to answer.

She will be hindered and helped, judged and praised, used and supported — but only to a certain point… until her patience runs out.

P.S. Don’t be surprised by the use of strong language — it reflects our reality, and the theatre chooses not to hide it.
