Mysterious universe of Anten Vuzlyk

An autobiographical quest performance by Artem Vusyk about Ukraine in the 90s, friends, and lost joy.

The performance is created in the retro computer game style, where the protagonist tries to go through different levels of his past life and collect the needed artefacts to find the joy he has lost somewhere.
Going back in time, Anten Vuzlyk (Artem Vusyk's alter ego) finds himself in the 90s, where he has to visit his school, children's polyclinic, meet his first best friend and others. This will help to put together a certain puzzle of life, which should help to understand where exactly the joy that is so lacking today is hidden.
“Mysterious universe of Anten Vuzlyk” offers a reflection on the first decade of independent Ukraine through the perspective of the personal stories of the protagonist and the director of the play. This work invites us to talk about what shaped an entire generation of people and how it affects us today.
“The silence gradually falls. And darkness. Darkness is where we came from, where we were born, and where we are going, where we will end up. But there is a moment between them - here and now. And what happens at this moment? Right here and now, a group of people have gathered in one place to look at another person. What person? Who is this person?”
This performance is a part of an autobiographical trilogy about Kharkiv, which includes the following series: “Mysterious universe of Anten Vuzlyk” — episode 1,
“Rainbow on Saltivka” — episode 2,
The third episode will be released in 2025, and its title is not yet known.
The premiere will take place on 28 and 29 November 2024.
The project is implemented with the support of the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine.
